Before We Start…
You’ll often hear home theater and forward projection enthusiasts refer to it as 4:3, 16:9, or 2.35:1, but what does that mean? A projector’s aspect ratio refers to the ratio between its width and height. For example, a 4:3 will produce an image with more in square, while a 16:9 will display an image more in rectangular shape.
We will cover these topics
Common Projector AspectRatio
The most common video projector aspect ratios are 4:3 (XGA & SXGA), 16:10 (WXGA & WUXGA) and 16:9 (standard HDTV, 1080p).
Business Use Aspect Ratio
Most people who use a projector for presentations will find a 4:3. However, in recent years the computer display industry has moved away from the 4:3 format. If your laptop has a widescreen display, a video projector capable of 16:9 or 16:10 resolution will be a better choice.

Which is the best? It depends on what you plan to project. As always, your best bet is to match your projector’s aspect ratio with that of your source. If you need a specific aspect ratios or multiple aspect ratios for your projection screen, at Projector 1 we have a perfect solution.
